It wasn’t easy

But I have published my book, Compelled,  at Smashwords, Createspace, and Amazon. I am excited about the new book cover designed by Donna Casey at DigitalDonna.com. Editorial service was done by Diane Reynolds.  I send a special thanks for your contribution to this book. I am equally excited about my next title The Genealogists Guest, but I have a lot of work to do with Compelled. Mainly get the news out that it is available. I’ve been reading about marketing, my true weakness, and much of what I gather is that social networking is key, along with word of mouth, and a few reviews. And so I have advertised, should I say, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social websites.

This is the Time

Trying out this new quick post WordPress introduced today. It’s great, much easier than the old way.

I’ve done some surfing in the news about ebooks and self publishing. I encourage eveyone to keep pushing the news-This is the Time- for authors to get their works online and introduce to the world their talents. I’m new to it all with one title published and another in the works, but I’m not new to the many works out there that are unpublished and fantastic reads. This- is- the- Time to get your works out there, this ebook thing is only beginning to take hold. The more I read the more I am convinced this will be a great year for authors who self publish. Go ahead give it a shot.

A Story Calling

My first thougth as I write this post is that right outside my window here the birds are singing, the sun is up and shining bright, and I am feeling much better after last weeks kick my butt illness kept my head on my pillow. Now I have lots to do, with my novels that is. I am currently writing The Thrust but as a writer’s need would have it my imagination keeps wondering to a story I seem destined to write. I have a title. I have the plot, I’ve toyed with the idea of having a cover designed for it, I might have to write it.

The Genealogists Guests

Torn as I am I must decide which to focus on, come on, I tell myself. Get it together. And so I’m leaning toward…

Out and About

I’ve been out and about, on the net that is. And so I neglected my blog, but good news. I’ve been joing others at weRead, LibraryThing, The Book Marketing Network, Googl+, Branchout (Facebook), Goodreads, I think that’s it, and I got caught up in reading! Go figure, I should be writing more.  My book, The Tug was mentioned and rated it a three star. I was surprised to see it there.

So what else has kept me from posting, uh, researching ancestors, and reading Kindle Books. I read and enjoyed The Mill River Recluse by Darci Chan.  I am currently reading Daddy’s Home by A.K. Alexander.

I self published The Tug with CreateSpace in print edition and of course its available on Kindle edition at Amazon.com. I went with a new cover since my Kindle Cover didn’t meet CreateSpace’s specifications, but in all its been good. Have I been stopping by WordPress? Hell yes, I love your blogs! If you haven’t checked out the websites listed above go ahead and give them a look.

The Thrust

My next novel The Thrust is in the works, my being new to indi publishing required some learning, well a lot of learning actually. It’s all good, reaching specifications on Amazon and  CreateSpace was certainly a task though.  I’ve found an editor. She reads everything about crime, action, suspense, etc. She has edited my novel The Tug, and being she’s an avid reader when she told me The Tug kept her turning pages I was thrilled. Pressure about The Thrust-No. Excited is more like it.

The Thrust is a sequel to the The Tug, MC Macon has turned into a monster himself but it’s all for Anna, and he purposely placed himself back in jail…I know unheard of…. Who would do such a thing? It’s complicated and the only way to fathom the idea is to dive into Macon’s world. He was torn in the Tug but in The Thrust he’s a powerhouse and he’s dangerous. All he wanted was a simple life, but they destroyed his dreams, and he’s back for revenge.

And so I have been absent of late, failing to post, forgive me. Fulltime jailors work, family, learning how to self publish, ancestry search/post, shopping, cleaning, reading, etc., held me hostage. Not that I’ve been totally absent from WordPress…I’ve been reading blogs, very helpful blogs at that! I close this post with a big Thank You!

About Self Publishing

I did it, I self published my new novel The Tug with Kindle Direct Publishing! Its my first and I am enthusiastic about my venture into self publishing. The preview pages of the author’s work KDP offers to potential buyers is what attracted me to its program. It doesn’t hurt that it’s all free either! I joined a ninety day program to have my title placed in a library for Kindle readers free access.

Like many writers out there I don’t have a money tree out back so I created my own temporary book cover. That took some doing, but it’s actually easy. I created the cover in Microsoft Word, used the “Snipping Tool” in Windows 7, and saved it in JPEG and loaded onto the KDP website. Kindle offers  temporary book covers for use but I wanted to recognized mine out of a list of many other titles right off.

I am beginning to build an author page on the website, amusing, I can write crazy, action packed, suspense stories but writing about myself seems hard. That’s my update for this blog, one I started during the NaNoWriMo when I wrote The Tug. I’ll await the feedback and we’ll see if this type of story captures the interest of readers, if not I have plenty more, but they’re on the spooky side.
